About This Extraordinary Journey
Experience Highlights 1/4

True luxury is the experience of authentic time.
"Authenticity" is not found in extravagance or technique. It is something that resonates quietly within the soul. At Koyasan, the spiritual heart of Japanese Buddhism and a UNESCO World Heritage site, you will experience something found nowhere else in the world: a journey that awakens emotion, memory, and timeless presence. For two days, surrounded by mountains rising over 1,000 meters (3,280 feet), you will live a life of mindful discipline in a celestial city above the clouds. Through the sacred practice of Shingon Buddhism, you will come to understand what is truly necessary, and rediscover through pure intuition what has always been most precious yet buried in daily life. By letting go of worldly desires, your perception begins to shift. Positivity takes root where restlessness once lived. This retreat is more than a luxury stay. It is a profound gift to yourself and a lasting investment in the clarity of your future.
4 Reasons Why Travelers Choose This Journey
Experience Highlights 2/4

Discover the Sacred Land of Koyasan
Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004 and awarded three Michelin stars, Mount Koya is the heart of Shingon Esoteric Buddhism founded by Kobo Daishi Kukai.
Described by National Geographic as “a mystical world where time flows differently from the rest of the Earth,” this mountain sanctuary offers profound tranquility and a complete detox for body and mind.
A Privileged Stay at Ekoin Temple
Stay at Ekoin, a semi-special head temple beloved by international guests. Located just steps from Ichinohashi Bridge, the entrance to the sacred Okunoin, Ekoin blends centuries-old tradition with refined modern comforts. Guests may choose from elegant Japanese rooms, hybrid suites, or semi-open-air bath suites.
Deep Cultural Insights with the Temple Master
Explore the spiritual core of Koyasan—the Danjo Garan complex of Kongobu-ji—guided by the head monk of Ekoin.
At the Reihokan Museum, the curator himself reveals the profound history and art of Koyasan, home to more than 100,000 Buddhist treasures, including 21 National Treasures and 148 Important Cultural Properties.
Shojin Cuisine that Heals the Body and Soul
Experience Shojin Ryori, traditional Japanese plant-based cuisine originally crafted for Buddhist monks.
Prepared with local mountain vegetables and the temple’s signature sesame tofu, each dish embodies mindfulness, gratitude, and harmony with nature. Though made entirely from plants and grains, the flavors are refined, delicate, and deeply nourishing, a dining experience that purifies both body and soul.
A Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience, Just for You
Experience Highlights 3/4

Chanting, Offering, and Meditation
At dawn, the resonant chanting of monks fills the temple halls, guiding you into a world beyond time. Here, you will witness the philosophy behind Shojin Ryori and the disciplined way of life practiced by monks, an experience rarely open to the public where the monks’ daily life becomes your extraordinary journey.
Goma Fire Ritual

Participate in a sacred ceremony known as Goma, an ancient Shingon ritual of purification. As you cast wooden prayer sticks into the flames, your wishes are carried to the divine while your worldly desires are burned away. Through the recitation of mantras and the power of fire, the ritual cleanses the spirit, promotes healing, and brings clarity of mind.
Ajikan Meditation

Experience Ajikan, a traditional esoteric meditation focusing on the Sanskrit letter “A,” symbolizing the cosmic Buddha Dainichi Nyorai. This practice reflects the unity between the self and the universe, helping you rediscover your pure essence. In this retreat, you will have the rare privilege to practice Ajikan privately within your room, immersing yourself in silence and awareness that transcends the physical world.
Okunoin Night Tour
Join the exclusive Okunoin Night Tour, a rare experience highly sought after by travelers from around the world.
Walk the mystical path once described by the novelist Ryotaro Shiba as “a realm unlike any other.”
As you pass through thousands of softly glowing lanterns, visit the memorials of legendary samurai such as Nobunaga and Mitsuhide,
and approach the sacred mausoleum of Kobo Daishi, a profound sense of stillness envelops your heart.
It is a night of quiet awe, a spiritual journey that lingers in memory long after it ends.
